Anawim offered their community a workshop by applied theatre practitioner – Monica Herbert

As part of IWD 2017, Anawim offered their community (clients, staff & other women that use the centre) a workshop by applied theatre practitioner – Monica Herbert. This was followed by an interactive talk about women who inspire us with Dawn Green & Monica Herbert. The aim of the workshop was to offer a space where both staff & clients could interact and have some fun together. The workshop allowed the group of both clients and staff to play games, laugh and be silly together – basically just enjoy the fun of playing. This was followed by a lively group discussion about women who inspire us and why. The group named mothers, tutors at Anawim & famous women (political & celebrities) as well as people who have inspired them in their lives. The workshop also recited & analysed Maya Angelou’s poem ‘Ain’t I a Women’. Afterwards there was a pampering nail booth, complete with sweet scents, tranquil music and refreshments. The event allowed the group to explore the theme of #BeBoldForChange and allowed them to let go of inhibitions, play, talk, mingle and realise just how brilliant they are as women who work together.
