Changing Lives – successful funding bid

Changing Lives have recently been successful with a funding bid to work with the Child Advocacy Centre Project in Durham, which is led by Durham Constabulary. Where two GAP Development Workers will be supporting clients across the Durham and Darlington area, who are involved in sex work and are exposed to sexual exploitation. Contrary to common stereotypes, most of those we support are involved in what we describe as ‘survival’ sex; they present with multiple and complex needs including addiction, homelessness, mental health problems and offending. The GAP Project are funded to work in partnership with Durham Constabulary until September 2018, establish new referral pathways for women and help promote the Police Dedicated Liaison Offer (DLO) role.
