WomenCentre has delivered excellent holistic person-centred services to women offenders for the last 10+ years and was cited as an example of good practice by Baroness Corston. Over the years they have served many hundreds of women in Calderdale and Kirklees enabling them to move forward positively and improve the quality of their lives.
Following a review of their strategic direction and much heartfelt consideration WomenCentre decided not to tender for the recently advertised Women Offenders contract in West Yorkshire. This means that their Evolve women offenders service will close on Friday 30 September. They are working with West Yorkshire CRC to ensure that there is a smooth transition for the women they are supporting.
Their wider holistic services, for example Domestic Abuse, Mental Health, Financial Resilience and Girls and Young Women Services will still be available for women offenders through open access.
Congratulations to Together Women Project who will be the new service provider for women offenders across West Yorkshire from 1 October.
