This year on International Women’s Day Cohort 4 wanted to do something a little bit different. They all attended an event celebrating the resilience of refugee women. It was uplifting yet quite shocking and gave rise to great discussion among our group over dinner together afterwards. They wanted to increase their collective knowledge of the diversity of women’s experience. Prior to the event they collected new packets of women’s pants to donate to People In Motion who make contact with women in the camps. Cohort 4 are expecting some Syrian families to arrive in North Warwickshire shortly, and they have offered support to the women and girls coming to their community in the next few months. This event enabled their current women to broaden their perspectives on the reality of experience in the camps prior to coming to the UK.
A blog post about the event can be found here.
